Fire-For-Effect Tab

The ‘Fire for Effect’ (FFE) tab allows the observer to specify how they intend to engage the target once adjustments are complete.

The tab allows the observer to choose from a number of FFE options. These are:

    1. Fire for Effect. This option specifies that all allocated guns will fire a number of volleys according to their SOPs.
    2. Fire for Effect (Rounds, Interval). This option allows the observer to specify the number of rounds the guns will fire, and an interval between each of their shots. If the observer specifies an interval that is less than the gun reload time, the gun reload time will be used instead.
    3. Fire for Effect (Guns, Rounds, Interval). This allows the observer to specify the elements above, but also to allocate how many guns the observer wishes to fire (compared to the above method where all allocated guns will fire).
    4. Repeat. Instructs the guns to refire the last completed serial.
    5. Fire. Instructs the guns to fire in the case that At My Command is in force.
    6. Adjustment FFE. This allows the observer to specify all available options at the time the observer requests the guns to fire.
      1. Last Fired Guns Adjust. The observer can allocate the number of guns that will fire, the interval between the guns firing, the ammunition and fuse to fire, and the number of rounds that will be fired in the volley.
      2. Multiple Guns Adjust. This method is similar to the above method, except the observer specifies a gun number to which the adjustments will solely apply. To do this, type the gun number in the text box and then enter adjustments in the same way as described above.

The observer can adjust multiple guns so that each has a unique adjustment. This can be done by clicking the ‘Add Gun’ button and specifying a different gun in the additional line that appears below. If the same gun is listed multiple times then adjustments will be compounded. The observer can click the ‘Remove Last’ button at any time to remove the adjustment specified at the bottom of the list.
    7. Polar Adjust. Polar adjustment is achieved by the observer obtaining the range (distance) and direction of the impact of the adjustment round that had just been fired. The VBS2Combined Arms controlled guns/batteries would adjust automatically to reflect the adjustment.
    8. Coord Guns FFE. This enables the user to fire FFE rounds simultaneously or sequentially. The number of guns, time interval, rate of fire, ammunition, fuse and the number of rounds needs to be specified. A simultaneous FFE serial can be added using ‘With’ button. Pressing the ‘Followed by’ button will add a sequential FFE serial.
    9. Continuous FFE. Here the user can specify the battery to keep firing FFE rounds for a given time period. If the continuous Illumination is selected ‘Illum’ ammunition will be used in for the FFE. Also in continuous illumination the number of guns can be specified.
