Training using VBS2Combined Arms
VBS2Combined Arms is designed to meet a variety of training applications and can be run in several configurations. To facilitate this, every license of VBS2Combined Arms can be run in one of three modes. These are: Trainee, Instructor and Stand-Alone. In summary:
- Stand-Alone mode allows a single license of VBS2 to both build a call-for-fire and close air support and process it. This allows individual training without the requirement for instructor intervention.
- Trainee mode provides the facilities to construct and send a call-for-fire to an Instructor terminal. The Trainee can get the Aircraft control of any Aerial asset while the Instructor is on mission but the Trainee cannot Set New Targets while in Aircraft control. To switch between Air platforms the Trainee should Exit Pilot Control and then Start Pilot Control again on the desired Air Platform.
- Instructor mode provides the tools to control the Gun-Lines within a scenario and thereby respond to calls-for-fire. The Instructor can connect Trainee through VBS2Combined Arms and let him get the aircraft control of any aerial asset.
Note:
In order to run VBS2Combined Arms in Trainee or Instructor modes, multiple instances of VBS2Combined Arms must be used (with at least one running in Trainee mode and one running in Instructor mode). This will require more than one license of VBS2Combined Arms.
The next subsection details the various training configurations that VBS2Combined Arms can be utilised in. The subsequent subsection describes the detailed features of each of the above modes.
