Selecting A Doctrine
VBS2Combined Arms supports generic versions of both NATO and Commonwealth Call-For-Fire doctrines. To view this window, from the main menu system: Options->Preferences->Doctrine tab.
Upon opening this tab, a user sees an options panel with a radio button for each doctrine. Selecting one or the other will result in the input settings for that VBS2Combined Arms terminal switching. It will affect the doctrine checking for the plain text entry window, as well as the user interface components shown when a New Fire Mission option is selected
This setting can be changed at any time during a scenario (useful if batteries supporting both doctrines are present in the same scenario) When VBS2Combined Arms is closed down; the last selected doctrine is saved and loaded automatically for next time VBS2Combined Arms runs.
For batteries, the doctrine can be set as part of the VBS2Combined ArmsGunline parameters, editable from the VBS2 mission editor (see the ‘Scenario Authoring’ section). These battery parameters are not affected by the doctrine settings in the settings panel.
