Radio Net Configuration File
Radio nets are defined in a radioNets.dat file for each mission. This resides in the top level of the mission directory. If a radioNets.dat file is not found, then a default radio net is used in its place. Radio nets can be modified by editing this file in a standard text editor. Several radio nets may be defined in a single file by simply listing them after each other in the file.
For every radio net which is defined, the following information must be included:
- Radio Net Name
- Frequencies (Primary and Alternate)
- Call signs
To define the radio net name, simply type ‘ --> ‘ and then the desired name. This can consist of multiple words if desired.
To define the frequencies, type ‘#’ and then the numeric frequency designator. At least one frequency must be entered. The first frequency entered is the primary frequency. Any subsequent frequencies are the alternate frequencies.
The first line after the frequencies defines the NCS. Simply type the callsign of the NCS. Optionally a colon (: ) can be added after the callsign to put a name which will not be used by the VBS2Combined Arms system, but which may serve as a useful annotation for the user. Anything after the colon is ignored by VBS2Combined Arms. Note that the callsign should be an alphanumeric value. Special characters such as (“, . / _”) will not load up the radio network properly.
The stations attached to the NCS can be specified by prefixing their entry with a *. Using two asterisks ** designates a second level station. This station is attached to the entry with one asterisk immediately above it. Any station may have a name placed after a colon on its line. VBS2Combined Arms will always ignore these names.
The format for the radioNets.dat file is as follows:
Alternatively, the user can use the VBS2Combined Arms radio net tool to modify a radio net. To do this, click the radio net button in the radio log. You can then right click on any node to rename it or remove it, or to add any sub stations to it.
